WHY THE FUNNY NAME?

Well, technika (pronounced tek-nee-ka) is "technique" is Slovak. And if you combine my husband's roots and my own, you end up in Slovakia. And on top of that, we believe that any soccer player that masters foundational techniques of the game, will not only succeed more often but have much more fun along the way! So Technika Academy was born out of the two: our roots and our goal to see young players master technical elements of the game of soccer in a fun way.

Technika Academy employs an acronym of S-K-I-L-L-S to teach our players in a fun and engaging way some of the most fundamental skills necessary to develop as soccer players.  The acronym covers critical topics at each one of our camps, every...single...day.  This repeated technical work aids us in making sure that concepts are learned by moving from simple activities to more complex activities, utilizing plenty of repetition to codify learned skills.

CO-PARTNERS IN COACHING YOUR CHILD(REN)

Technika Academy has no desire in taking your children away from their parents in another sphere of their lives and separating their learning of a new skill with their primary teachers and mentors - YOU, the parent.  We expect parents to be as involved in our camper's development as we are, and encourage parents to know what their child is learning, to be intentional and to be engaging with what they are being presented with and how.

We may be the soccer experts on a few things that parents might not know, but we are above all partners with parents in training their child on and off the soccer field.  We are "in loco parentis," meaning we are in the place of you while you are away, and your children are under our care.  We take that very seriously and desire to provide not just a "good enough environment" till you return, but a great one that supports you in how you are teaching, mentoring, and discipling your child(ren).  During that time, qualified and professional staff come alongside your child, providing them with tools necessary to develop in the game of soccer. We provide the environment and tools from a soccer specific standpoint (as the soccer professionals), but the parents are the drivers of each fundamentally learned concept.

Our goal is to support, aid, and bolster parents in helping their children learn more about soccer.  As such, we invite all parents to stick around and watch each session if able.  Learn from what we are doing, take notes, ask questions, and then return to these concepts with your children at the day's or week's end.  It's up to each family's primary teachers (parents) to take their child's learned lessons and implement them.  No one camp will succeed (or should) in turning a player into something drastically different.

What a wonderful way to engage and become intentional with your children by learning a new skill with them!  We've even had in the past, parents that are practicing on the sidelines as we are teaching,  so that they are more comfortable helping their child practice at home. What a great way to bridge another gap that could separate our kids from their primary source of influence - you!

MISSION

Technika Academy's mission is to host soccer camps for players aged four to eighteen, regardless of skill level, and to create a safe, fun, and positive environment for players to learn the technical aspects of the game of soccer, aiding them in becoming creative and passionate players on the field and confident and honorable people off the field.

HISTORY

Technika Academy was born during, not because of, the pandemic in 2020.  Our Executive Director has always felt a passion to correctly teach foundational concepts to kids as early as possible, so the game of soccer becomes as fun and long lasting as possible.  Since 2020, Technika Academy has hosted over a dozen camps in and around the Mableton, Smyrna, Marietta, and Vinings area.
